Who Stole the Cookies from the Cookie Jar?


A Bite-Sized Mystery


Mrs. Crocker baked a dozen cookies for her bridge party.  She called her boys into the kitchen.  As she arranged the cookies inside of the jar, she told the boys, “I’m going next door to visit Mrs.Smith. While I’m gone, don’t touch the cookies.” 

To be on the safe side, Mrs. Crocker locked the door to the house. “I’ll only be gone a few minutes, so you boys can play outside.” The boys obliged, Joey hopped on his tricycle and Jimmy on his skateboard.

When Mrs. Crocker returned home, she called the boys back to the kitchen. She opened the jar, dumped out the cookies, and gasped. There were only two cookies left.

Mrs. Crocker turned beet red. But, before she could question the boys, the cat slithered into the kitchen through the doggie door.  The dog squeezed through next. “Now which one of you stole my cookies?” Mrs. Crocker demanded.

Mrs. Crocker looked for evidence. The dog’s paws were all wet. The cat’s paws were sort of dusty. She knew immediately who the culprit was.

  3. What is your top fear?  Chocolate shortage (It’s real! 😭)

Chocolate and Cheese Pairings



How does a chocoholic celebrate Cheese Day? It may seem like an odd couple, but cheese can actually be a delicious accompaniment to chocolate.



Way. If you find yourself feeling hungry and adventurous, give it a try!

The basics of a Chocolate and Cheese Tasting:

  • Smell the cheese chunk and chocolate before sampling.
  • When tasting a pair, eat the cheese followed by the chocolate.
  • Eat small pieces of each, the cheese being double the size of the chocolate.
  • Take time to allow flavors to melt in your mouth.
  • Dark chocolate, being less sweet, tends to pair with aged, nutty, or pungent cheeses. I find the dark chocolate to be most versatile.
  • Typically, more complex chocolates pair best with more dimensional cheeses.
  • Milk chocolate tends to go better with milk based, buttery, or soft cheeses.
  • Experiment with chocolates with texture and multiple flavors. (Nuts, caramel, coffee beans, fruit, spices, toffee, etc.)


Of course, all of these thoughts are just suggestions. The combinations aren’t an absolute science, however you’ll find that some flavors naturally blend well together. At the end of the day, it’s all about your palate. 


Some recommendations:

Dark Chocolate– pair with Blue Cheese, Goat Cheese, wine or beer washed cheese, Aged Parmesan, Aged Cheddar, Aged Gouda, Mascarpone

Milk Chocolate – goes with Riccotta, Brie, Robiola, and goat/cow milk cheeses.

White Chocolate – try with mild cheeses, like Colby or Goat Cheese.

Chocolate with Nuts or Dried Fruit– pairs well with aged cheeses, semi-soft cheeses (like Brie), Aged Jack Cheese, Gruyere

Spicy & Chili Chocolate– pairs nicely with Aged Sharp Cheeses

Chocolate Caramels– their sweetness will round off with a salty cheese, such as Romano.

About me:

I write. I read. And I eat a crazy amount of chocolate. I started my blog in hopes of connecting with others who had similar interests. Folks that like to laugh, and hang out in the kitchen are my favorite kind of people. And I’ve had the pleasure to meet so many of them!

My advice?

As I’ve only been at blogging for a few months, I’m surely not the one to lend the most expert advice.


My advice:

Be genuine. As a newbie, it’s so easy to look at other successful blogs, and think, wow. Now that blogger really has it together….maybe my blog should look more like that one? NO, of course it shouldn’t. That would get boring really fast. Sure, it’s okay to get inspired by a great blogger, but be yourself. Develop a style and a voice that’s all your own, and readers will love you, uniquely, for it!


Even if you have a goofy sense of humor, and an insatiable hunger for chocolate.☺️ (And this is where I give a warm thanks to my readers! ❤️)

Secondly, pay it forward when you can.  Like someone’s post?  Let them know.  Everyone can use the feedback, and interacting with each other is the whole idea.
